A two-hour drive from Cape Town via Worcester onto the scenic Route 62, via Robertson and then through McGregor – Western Cape brings you to what is often called, “The Road To Nowhere”, what could very well be just a drive through farmlands, has a semi-dead end with a surprise.
Tightly nestled in the heart of the Riviersonderend mountains, between the twin villages of Greyton and McGregor, a double-story, stone house catches the eye, aptly named – Eagle’s Nest.
The Boesmanskloofhiking Trail and Die Galg are literally at the front door of this stone house and all hikers of this trail pass by its presence on the trail

Rooms
- This self-catering guest house boasts 3 double bed bedrooms each with an en-suite (shower and toilet) on the upper level of the house. Each room has extra single beds.
- A separate bedroom downstairs has two single beds and an en-suite (shower and toilet).
- Every room is equipped with linen and towels.
Open plan Lounge and inside braai area
- Upon entering Eagle’s Nest, your eyes are drawn to the glass sliding door which leads to the amazing deck with outstanding views of the Riviersonderend Mountains. This unlocks an amazing view of the Riviersonderend mountains and the natural rushing rock pools of the Gobos River.
- A wonderful interior braai ensures that when the mountain evenings turn cooler, you will be cozily cared for in the Eagle's Nest.
Kitchen
- A big family kitchen with a wooden table ensures a warmth that will make you feel right at home.
- It is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, other cookware, a fridge, microwave, stove, and toaster, and of course the necessary electricity.
- Exiting the kitchen door will hold yet another breath-taking disclosure.
Outside
- What is better to enjoy the fresh mountain air, than to braai using the stone braai facilities on the deck of Eagle's Nest
- The swimming pool next to the braai is a bonus in the summer or after a long warm hike to cool off. Bring your swimming towels.
- Remember the blitz and wood. (We supply wood at extra cost).
- Wood can be ordered when you make your reservation.
- There is a braai grid but if you are used to your braai equipment bring yours (hikers excluded)
- Bring a casserole for a braai (hikers excluded)
- Bring your electric plug for cell phone charging, please.

REVIEWS FOR EAGLE'S NEST
Thank you for Eagles Nest on Sunday evening. It was comfortable and in a fantastic position. Because of the weather and sore legs, I left the kids at the viewpoint past the waterfalls to walk down to Greyton and returned via the historic pass to fetch my car. I look forward to returning when we can explore the pools and walks. We had brought our firewood which I used on the internal braai.

Sjoe, woorde ontbreek om my dankbaarheid uit te spreek vir die ongelooflike paar dae wat ons in Eagle Nest kon bly. Vandat ek my voete in daai deur gesit het, was alles net sooo mooi, gerieflik en die uitsig was iets besonders. Ek verlang al klaar terug. Moeg, uitgeput en arm in gees het ek daar aangekom, maar uitgerus, ryk in gees het ons Eagle Nest verlaat. Dankie dat julle die stukkie paradys met ons gedeel het. Die warm komberse en warmwater bottels het baie gehelp. Ons het die staproetes vreeslik geniet. My seuntjie sê sy droom het waar geword – om sy gesig in ‘n bergstroompie te kon druk en vars bergwater te kon drink. God se teenwoordigheid is verseker tasbaar daar en as die Here ons spaar is ons verseker terug in die toekoms.

We stayed with the four of us at Eagles Nest and had a great time, indoor braai, swimming in the pool with splendid views, adventure with a lost hiker, and a nice but long hike to the waterfalls. We will be back.

Ons wil nie terug wees by die huis nie, die Arendsnes het ons so wonderlik onder sy vlerk toegevou. Dit was uitstaande ontspanning, wonderlike natuur, stap, blomme, voels, braai, & almal het saans op die dek gelê en sterrekyk.
Ons het in die gasteboek geskryf en wil ook graag op die nuwe Website bylas - is dit moontlik?
Jammer ek het jou gemis met die besoek Sandra, maar Louise het die spesiale inloer en blomme baie waardeer. Sy is mal oor die fynbos-koningkryk en het "duisende" foto's geneem.
Daar het ongelukkig 'n Franse sjampanje-sak (Moët & Chandon) langs die mikrogolf agtergebly. Sal waardeer as julle dit kan onderskep, iewersvorentoe kom ons of vriende weer daar verby.
Dankie alles (wat reeds begin het met die bordskryf-boodskap by die voordeur).

Just a quick mail to say thank you for everything this weekend. We enjoyed the hike even though the weather was horrible. Thanks for helping us out with dry clothes and also drying all of our wet stuff. We really appreciated it. Our walk back was much easier. I'm sure we will see you again.
