In short
We collect only what is needed to handle your enquiry, booking and payment. We do not sell your information. No marketing without a separate opt-in, and a free way to unsubscribe. You may ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
Who is responsible for your information
Retief Oosthuizen, trading as Boesmanskloof McGregor, is the responsible party for the personal information described here. Business/contact address: 5 Warrenstraat, Robertson, 6705. This is not the accommodation arrival address. Privacy contact: Retief Oosthuizen · Telephone or WhatsApp: +27 82 612 4623. This notice covers our website, direct enquiries, bookings and guest administration. Booking platforms such as LekkeSlaap have their own privacy notices.
Information we collect and why
We collect what we need to answer enquiries, arrange and administer your stay, take and reconcile payments, supply requested extras, handle complaints or refunds, and meet our legal obligations. This may include your name and contact details, booking dates, unit choice, party size, guest details that are necessary for the stay, correspondence, payment status and transaction references. The website does not currently collect payment details or submit bookings.
The website's stay planner keeps shortlist, comparison and session-plan selections in your browser. It does not submit a booking or reserve dates. We usually collect information directly from you when you contact us. We may also receive booking details from the person arranging your stay or from a booking platform.
If you do not give us the information reasonably needed to manage a booking or payment, we may be unable to provide that service. Optional requests and marketing preferences are voluntary.
Sensitive information and children
Please share only information that is relevant to your request. If you choose to tell us about an accessibility or health-related requirement, or request a cancellation exception, we will explain what is needed and offer a private channel. We do not request medical history through this website, and any processing of special personal information has an appropriate legal basis and safeguards.
An adult arranging a family booking should give only the child information needed for the stay, such as ages where they affect capacity or rates. We ask for children's ages, not their names or other details.
The basis for using information
Depending on the purpose, we process information to take the steps you request before a booking or to perform our agreement with you, to comply with a legal obligation, to pursue a legitimate interest subject to your rights, or on your consent where the law requires it. Accepting the booking terms is not blanket consent to all processing or to marketing.
Service providers and WhatsApp
We share information only where needed with the people and organisations that help us deliver the service, or where disclosure is legally required. The WhatsApp link opens WhatsApp only when you choose it. If you then send a message, its contents are handled through WhatsApp as well as by us. WhatsApp has its own privacy notice.
Retention and security
We keep information only for as long as it is needed for its purpose, or as the law permits or requires, and then securely delete, destroy or de-identify it.
We use reasonable organisational and technical safeguards suited to the information and the risks. No system is entirely risk-free. Where a security compromise requires notification, we notify the Information Regulator and the affected people as the law requires.
Browser storage and marketing
The stay planner stores your shortlist, comparison choices and session plan in your browser. These planner choices are not a booking submission. You can manage stored website data through your browser settings.
Booking-related messages are used to manage your stay. Any direct marketing follows the applicable law, with a separate optional sign-up where consent is required and a clear, free way to object or unsubscribe. A booking or enquiry on its own is not treated as marketing permission.
Your rights and complaints
Subject to the applicable law, you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have inaccurate information corrected, request deletion where appropriate, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent for future consent-based processing. We may need to verify your identity proportionately before responding. Withdrawing consent does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful or remove our legal retention duties. Contact us on WhatsApp at +27 82 612 4623 to exercise these rights or to raise a concern. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za · enquiries@inforegulator.org.za · 010 023 5200. We date material updates to this notice and give further notice where the law requires it.
